FORT BEND COUNTY — A 66-year-old Sealy man was killed and two people from East Bernard, including a 16-year-old driver and a 10-year-old passenger, were hospitalized following a head-on crash Tuesday morning on U.S. Highway 90.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Stephen Woodard provided Wharton Post with preliminary details of the crash Tuesday afternoon.

DPS: Honda Entered Eastbound Lane

According to DPS, a 2007 Freightliner commercial motor vehicle was traveling eastbound on U.S. 90 near FM 1952 when it collided with a 2025 Honda sedan traveling westbound.

DPS said its preliminary investigation indicates that, for reasons still under investigation, the Honda entered the eastbound lane and the two vehicles collided head-on.

The investigation remains ongoing, meaning the preliminary findings could be updated as troopers continue investigating the crash.

Sealy Man Pronounced Dead at Scene

The Freightliner was driven by a 66-year-old man from Sealy, according to DPS.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office. DPS did not release his name in the information provided to Wharton Post.

A photograph from the scene shows the commercial vehicle overturned off the roadway and on fire following the collision.

East Bernard Teen and Child Hospitalized

DPS identified the Honda’s driver as a 16-year-old girl from East Bernard.

A 10-year-old boy from East Bernard was a passenger in the Honda.

Both were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for medical treatment. DPS did not provide information about their conditions.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office assisted DPS at the scene as authorities investigated the fatal crash.

DPS said no additional information was available Tuesday afternoon and the investigation remains ongoing.
