WHARTON — Wharton residents will have a chance to speak directly with CenterPoint Energy representatives next month during a community meeting focused on hurricane preparedness and electric service reliability.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Wharton County Library, 1920 N. Fulton St.

According to CenterPoint, the event is part of its Community Connects series being held across Southeast Texas. Company officials will discuss efforts to improve reliability, strengthen the electric grid, and prepare for the 2026 hurricane season.

The meeting comes as Gulf Coast communities once again enter hurricane season, a time when many residents closely watch utility providers’ storm preparation and response plans. Attendees will be able to hear updates from CenterPoint staff, ask questions and learn more about how the company plans to communicate with customers before, during and after major weather events.

Wharton is one of several stops on CenterPoint’s summer outreach schedule, with similar meetings planned in Galveston, Waller, Fort Bend County, Sugar Land and other communities throughout the region.

The event is open to the public, and CenterPoint says residents are encouraged to attend and share their questions and concerns directly with company representatives.
