EL CAMPO — Homeowners in Wharton County and other eligible Texas counties affected by severe weather in 2024 will have an opportunity to learn about disaster recovery assistance programs during an outreach event hosted by the Texas General Land Office (GLO) on Tuesday.
The Homeowner Assistance Outreach Event will be held from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on June 16, 2026, at the Northside Education Center, 707 Fahrenthold Street in El Campo.

According to the Texas General Land Office, the event is designed to help residents impacted by the 2024 disasters, including severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, flooding, and Hurricane Beryl. Representatives will be available to provide information on programs that may help eligible homeowners repair, rebuild, or receive reimbursement for storm-related damages.
Wharton County is among 27 counties eligible for the assistance programs. Homeowners attending the event can learn about application requirements, eligibility guidelines, and the documentation needed to apply.
The programs are available only for a homeowner’s primary residence. Applicants may apply for either reimbursement assistance or repair and reconstruction assistance, but not both. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The outreach event comes as the state continues distributing federal disaster recovery funds provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funding supports recovery efforts in areas affected by federally declared disasters during 2024.
Residents unable to attend can learn more about the programs and application process through the Texas General Land Office’s disaster recovery website.
