BOLING — Boling Independent School District will hold a public meeting Tuesday, Aug. 18, to discuss its proposed budget and property tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the district’s boardroom at 301 Texas Avenue in Boling. Members of the public may participate in the discussion.

Boling ISD is proposing a total property tax rate of $1.05425 per $100 of taxable value. That includes 65.96 cents for maintenance and operations and 39.465 cents for debt service.
The proposed rate is slightly higher than last year’s total rate of $1.04960. If approved, the increase would amount to approximately 0.465 cents per $100 of taxable value.
For a residence with the district’s average taxable value of $82,754, the notice estimates an annual school tax bill of $872.39. That is $14.56 more than the estimated $857.83 tax bill on an average residence last year.
Actual tax bills will vary based on each property’s taxable value, exemptions and other circumstances.
The district’s proposed budget would increase total expenditures by 5.84% compared with the previous fiscal year. Maintenance and operations spending is projected to increase by 2.16%, while debt-service spending would rise by 3.68%.
Districtwide property values also increased. The total appraised value of property within Boling ISD rose from approximately $757.4 million last year to $817.8 million this year. Total taxable value increased from about $545 million to $560.5 million.
The notice lists $6.34 million in newly appraised property this year, compared with nearly $33 million last year.
Boling ISD reported approximately $28.9 million in outstanding principal on bonded debt. The district expects to end the current fiscal year with an estimated $5.4 million in its maintenance and operations fund balance and $127,000 in its interest and sinking fund.
The district’s proposed rate is also its voter-approval tax rate, meaning it is the highest rate the district may adopt without triggering an automatic tax ratification election.
The board may adopt the tax rate during the Aug. 18 meeting or at a later meeting. Under the notice, the final adopted rate cannot exceed the proposed rate unless the district publishes a revised notice and holds another public meeting.
