HOUSTON — A 32-year-old Austin man has been arrested after investigators say he repeatedly contacted a 15-year-old Harris County girl, made sexual advances toward her and discussed having a child with her.

Hunter James Kufta, 32, was arrested Thursday, October 15, in Austin with assistance from the Austin Police Department. He faces a second-degree felony charge of online solicitation of a minor in Harris County.
According to investigators, Kufta began communicating with the teenager in June 2026. When the girl discovered his actual age and identity, she attempted to end contact with him.
Authorities say Kufta continued contacting her, prompting the teenager to tell her parents about the messages.
Her parents reported the situation to the Memorial Villages Police Department in late September. The case was referred to the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
Investigators Take Over Online Conversations
With permission from the girl’s mother, an undercover investigator assumed the teenager’s online identity and continued communicating with Kufta.
According to court records, Kufta allegedly used multiple computer-generated phone numbers to contact the girl.
During those conversations, investigators say he discussed traveling to Houston to meet her and having sexual contact with her.
Authorities also allege Kufta discussed meeting the teenager in a hotel room or rented vehicle and made statements about wanting to get her pregnant.
Investigators say he offered to use contraception or provide emergency contraception during the proposed encounter.
Invitation to Trump Rally
Court records also describe an unusual invitation involving a political event.
According to investigators, Kufta told the undercover officer he had obtained tickets to a President Donald Trump rally in San Antonio and wanted the teenager and her parents to accompany him.
The invitation was among the communications documented during the investigation. Authorities have not alleged that Trump, his campaign or event organizers were involved in the suspected criminal activity.
Investigators say Kufta also discussed arranging an in-person meeting with the teenager. However, he reportedly failed to appear at a planned meeting.
Previous Criminal History in Florida
Authorities say Kufta moved to Texas from Florida in April 2026.
According to law enforcement records cited in regional reporting, Kufta was arrested in Collier County, Florida, in 2022 in connection with allegations involving inappropriate communications with another minor.
Harris County authorities say he was previously convicted of a sex offense involving a minor in Florida and was required to register as a sex offender there.
Court records cited in the reporting indicate he was not required to register in Texas.
Arrest and Possible Penalties
Kufta was taken into custody in Austin on Thursday night and transported to Harris County.
The Harris County District Clerk’s records show a felony online solicitation case filed against Hunter James Kufta on October 16, 2026.
If convicted of the second-degree felony, he could face between two and 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
As of Friday afternoon’s reporting, his bond had not yet been announced.
Investigators Seeking Additional Information
Authorities are asking anyone who may have information about Kufta’s possible involvement with other minors to contact the Harris County Precinct 1 Internet Crimes Against Children Unit at 713-222-4929.
The investigation remains ongoing.
All criminal charges are allegations. Kufta is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
