EL CAMPO — The City of El Campo announced that its Public Works Department will begin mosquito vector fogging operations across the city starting Monday night, May 26, through Saturday, May 30, 2026.
According to the city, fogging will take place nightly and will cover all public right-of-way areas within the city limits four times during the operation period.
City officials said the mosquito control program uses ULV (ultra-low volume) fogging units operated by licensed and trained mosquito control specialists. One of the units is GPS-controlled and adjusts chemical dispersal based on vehicle speed, while additional units are calibrated annually to ensure proper application rates.
The city stated that technicians generally operate at speeds around 15 MPH, and all chemical usage is logged nightly to maintain consistency and compliance with recommended standards.
The fogging effort comes as mosquito activity typically increases during late spring and early summer, especially following periods of rainfall and standing water accumulation.
Residents are encouraged to help reduce mosquito breeding around homes and properties by:
- Removing standing water from containers, gutters, and old tires
- Keeping grass and weeds trimmed
- Regularly changing water in bird baths and fountains
- Draining temporary pools of water
- Maintaining treated and circulating swimming pool water
The City of El Campo also encouraged residents to report mosquito concerns through the city website, by contacting Public Works, or by emailing city officials.
The information was released by the City of El Campo Public Works Department.
