EDNA, Texas — A traffic stop conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office near Edna resulted in the seizure of approximately 4 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, according to authorities.
The stop occurred May 23 on southbound U.S. Highway 59 near Edna. During the investigation, deputies made contact with the driver and passenger and developed reasonable suspicion that led them to request a K9 unit.
K9 Deputy Curtis and K9 Tomo of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Officials said K9 Tomo alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led deputies to a boot box containing four gallon-sized bags of suspected methamphetamine, weighing approximately 4 kilograms.
The case remains under active investigation, and authorities have not released additional details, including the identities of those involved or any potential charges.
