WHARTON — Families in the Wharton area can take advantage of the Wharton ISD Summer Food Program beginning June 2 and continuing through June 30 at Wharton Junior High School.

The program is open to all children ages 0-18, and participants do not need to live within the school district to receive meals.

Meals will be served Monday through Thursday at the following times:

  • Breakfast: 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Lunch: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

According to the program information, all meals must be eaten on campus. Additional meals may be purchased for those not eligible for the free summer meal program.

Meal prices for purchased meals are:

  • Breakfast: $3.40
  • Lunch: $5.25

The summer feeding program is designed to help ensure children have access to nutritious meals while school is out for the summer.

Officials also noted that the program will be closed on June 18.

For families looking for meal assistance during the summer months, Wharton Junior High will serve as one of the local locations providing breakfast and lunch throughout June.
