EL CAMPO — Local first responders will be competing for a good cause later this month as El Campo hosts its Battle of the Badges Blood Drive.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the El Campo Public Safety Building, 1011 West Loop.

Donors can choose to donate on behalf of the El Campo Police Department, El Campo Volunteer Fire Department, or El Campo EMS. The department with the most donors will claim bragging rights in the community competition.

Everyone who donates will receive a free Battle of the Badges baseball cap and a $25 e-gift card while supplies last.

Organizers say blood donations help save lives and are always needed. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins will be welcome.

The event is being hosted by Gulf Coast Blood in partnership with local emergency services agencies.
