WHARTON COUNTY — A man wanted on a Galveston County warrant was booked into the Wharton County Jail this week following his arrest by law enforcement officers working a joint operation.
According to Wharton County Jail records, William Jeffery Young, 41, was booked into the jail at 2:43 p.m. on June 23, 2026. The charge is listed as Sexual Assault – Bigamy, a pretrial felony.
The Galveston Municipal Police Association stated that investigators with the Galveston Police Department Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force arrested Young on an outstanding Galveston Police Department warrant related to the sexual assault of a child.
Wharton County Jail records list Galveston as the charging agency and the El Campo Police Department as the arresting agency. It was not immediately clear what role each agency played in the arrest.
Jail records show two counts of Sexual Assault – Bigamy, both listed as pretrial felonies. The records also show a $200,000 bond on each count, with both bonds listed as active.
