WHARTON — A Wharton County court has sentenced Timothy Isaac Mills, 31, following criminal proceedings stemming from charges previously reported by Wharton Post.
According to court records, Mills was placed on five years of deferred adjudication community supervision (deferred probation) in connection with a charge of sexual assault of a child involving a 14-year-old victim.
As part of the court’s judgment, Mills must:
- Register as a sex offender.
- Have no contact with the 14-year-old victim.
- Complete 110 hours of community service.
- Pay a $500 fine.
- Serve 97 days in the Wharton County Jail.
Court records state Mills received credit for the full 97 days he had already served in custody, satisfying the jail portion of his sentence.
Deferred adjudication means the court has postponed entering a finding of guilt. If Mills successfully completes all conditions of his probation, a conviction may not be formally entered on this charge. However, if he violates the terms of his probation, the court could proceed with adjudication and impose a sentence allowed by law.
Wharton Post previously reported that Mills was booked into the Wharton County Jail on March 13, 2026. At the time of his arrest, jail records listed charges of Sexual Assault of a Child and Possession of Child Pornography (10–50 Visual Depictions).
The court documents provided pertain to the disposition of the sexual assault of a child charge. The status of the possession of child pornography charge was not reflected in the records reviewed by Wharton Post.
Court records also indicate the offense occurred on June 6, 2013.
