WHARTON — The Wharton City Council will meet Monday, Aug. 10, to consider property requests, grant funding, emergency medical service building repairs and other city business.

The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Wharton City Hall.

Kim Jurek and Dolcefino Media are scheduled to address the council regarding the property at 320 Mayfair Circle. Jurek previously appeared before the council about the property, but the matter was not resolved during that meeting.

Dolcefino Media is a Houston-based investigative media firm led by Wayne Dolcefino, a longtime investigative journalist who previously led ABC13 KTRK-TV’s 13 Undercover unit for nearly 27 years. The firm says it conducts investigative journalism for private citizens, law firms, companies and taxpayers seeking to expose alleged injustice, fraud and abuses of power.

The council agenda does not explain Dolcefino Media’s involvement in the Mayfair Circle matter or identify any specific action for council members to consider. The item is listed as a request to address the council.

Council members will also consider a request from Blake Meuth, representing Resilience Homes, to modify a previously approved setback variance for 326 Mayfair Circle. The change would establish a five-foot side-yard setback and provide additional space for foundation stabilization.

Another property matter involves a request from Daniel Chapa for a variance from the required five-foot side-yard setback at 204 W. Mulberry Avenue. The variance is being requested for the reconstruction of a garage that was demolished.

The council will consider accepting grant funding from the M.G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation and authorizing Mayor Tim Barker to execute the related documents. The agenda does not identify the grant amount or how the funding would be used.

Council members will also consider authorizing electrical repairs to the building being remodeled for the Wharton Emergency Medical Service Department.

Other agenda items include:

• Approving a Municipal Court Prosecutor Employment Agreement.
• Approving an upgrade to the city’s CivicPlus agenda and meeting-management system through TIPS Cooperative.
• Establishing a consultant selection committee and evaluation criteria for the city’s Resilient Communities Program Comprehensive Plan project.
• Reviewing the annual update to the service and assessment plan for Wharton Public Improvement District No. 2.
• Receiving reports from the Public Works and Finance committees.
• Considering appointments, resignations and vacancies on city boards, commissions and committees.

Police Chief Terry David Lynch is also requesting approval on behalf of Addie Edwards for a family reunion scheduled for Aug. 29. The request includes closing Polk Street from West Milam Street to West Caney Street and using Guffey Park for parking.

The meeting will include a public-comment period near the beginning of the agenda.
