KENDLETON, Texas — A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was not injured after leaving the roadway while attempting to pursue a speeding vehicle on U.S. 59 near Kendleton Friday evening.
The crash happened Sept. 4 at about 6:57 p.m. near FM 2919 and northbound U.S. 59.
DPS Sgt. Stephen Woodard told Wharton Post that, based on preliminary information, no other vehicles were involved and the trooper was not hurt.
Woodard said the trooper was attempting to pursue a speeder when the patrol vehicle left the roadway.
Publicly available dispatch audio from the incident indicated the trooper’s vehicle went over a railing and that multiple units responded. Radio traffic later indicated the trooper was conscious, breathing and out of the vehicle.
DPS said additional details would be provided.
