EL CAMPO — Prosperity Bank, which maintains its main banking office in El Campo, has grown to more than $53 billion in assets after completing three major bank mergers during the first seven months of 2026.
The bank, located at 1301 N. Mechanic Street in El Campo, has expanded its operations across Texas and Oklahoma through acquisitions involving American Bank, Texas Partners Bank and Stellar Bank.
While its parent company, Prosperity Bancshares Inc., is headquartered in Houston, Prosperity Bank continues to list El Campo as its main office in records maintained by the Texas Department of Banking.
Three Mergers in Seven Months
Prosperity began the year by completing its acquisition of American Bank on January 1.
The Corpus Christi-based bank operated 18 banking offices and two loan production offices across South and Central Texas, including locations in Victoria, San Antonio and Austin. It had approximately $2.5 billion in assets.
On February 1, Prosperity completed its acquisition of Texas Partners Bank, a San Antonio-based institution with approximately $2.4 billion in assets and 11 banking offices.
The largest transaction came on July 1, when Prosperity completed its merger with Houston-based Stellar Bank.
Stellar operated 52 banking offices and had approximately $10.4 billion in assets shortly before the merger. The transaction was valued at approximately $2 billion when it was announced earlier this year.
The three acquisitions expanded Prosperity’s reach into additional markets and brought more banking offices under its operations.
Assets Climb by Billions
Prosperity reported approximately $43.9 billion in assets as of June 30, before the Stellar merger took effect.
Following the merger, the company reported assets exceeding $53 billion, compared with approximately $38 billion a year earlier.
The bank’s parent company also reported $168.6 million in net income for the second quarter of 2026, compared with $135.2 million during the same period in 2025.
The acquisitions have expanded Prosperity’s banking network to more than 330 locations across Texas and Oklahoma.
Stellar Bank locations are expected to continue operating under their existing name until a scheduled conversion to Prosperity Bank in March 2027.
El Campo Remains the Bank’s Main Office
Despite the expansion, Prosperity Bank continues to maintain its main banking office in El Campo, according to state banking records.
The El Campo location remains part of an institution that now serves customers in communities ranging from smaller Texas towns to major metropolitan markets such as Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio.
Although Prosperity’s corporate leadership is based in Houston, its banking charter maintains a direct connection to Wharton County.
The three mergers mark a year of significant expansion for the bank, adding billions of dollars in assets and dozens of locations to an institution that continues to list El Campo as its main banking office.
