WHARTON — The Wharton Volunteer Fire Department is inviting families from across the community to celebrate the start of the new school year during its annual Back-to-School Party on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wharton Fire Department and is open to everyone.

Families will have the opportunity to tour the fire station, see the department’s fire trucks up close, and enjoy a variety of activities for children and adults. Attractions planned for the evening include moonwalks, snow cones, hot dogs, and a dunking booth benefiting the department’s scholarship fund. Dunk tank throws will cost $1 per ball.

Organizers say the event is designed to bring the community together while helping students and families kick off the 2026-27 school year in a fun and welcoming environment.

The Wharton Chamber of Commerce encouraged residents to attend and celebrate the beginning of the new school year with friends, neighbors, and local first responders.

The event is free to attend, and families are encouraged to bring children of all ages for an evening of community activities and entertainment.
