NEEDVILLE — A community fundraiser scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23, will help three East Bernard brothers who lost both of their parents in a rollover crash last month.
The drive-through dinner will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Don Wenzel Memorial Harvest Park, 3001 Violet St. in Needville. All proceeds will benefit Jake, Gage and Tyson Jenkins.
Their parents, Jeremy and Brandy Jenkins, died in a single-vehicle rollover crash in August.
Jeremy served as athletic director and head football coach at East Bernard High School, while Brandy taught at East Bernard Junior High.
The couple’s sons are Tyson, 20, a college student; Gage, 18; and Jake, 16. Gage and Jake attend East Bernard High School.
“These boys have been through so much, and it’s our privilege to be able to help in some small way,” said Chris Janicek, one of the event’s organizers.
Janicek encouraged residents to skip cooking dinner that evening and stop by the park to support the family.
Dinner Plates and Event Details
The meal will be catered by Vincek’s Smokehouse and includes chicken-fried steak, rice and gravy, green beans, and bread.
Plates will cost $15 each, and additional donations will be accepted. Cash and checks are the only accepted forms of payment. Meals cannot be purchased in advance.
Organizers said the fundraiser could end before 7 p.m. if plates sell out.
Drivers should turn onto Poppy Drive, then Youth Fair Drive, and enter the Harvest Park pavilion from the east side.
How to Help the Jenkins Brothers
Residents interested in volunteering can attend an organizational meeting Monday, Sept. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the park pavilion.

The fundraiser is being organized by members of the Needville community to provide financial assistance to the brothers following the loss of their parents.
