WHARTON — CenterPoint Energy says repairs to electrical equipment owned by Meadows Apartments in Wharton must be completed before electricity can be restored following Wednesday night’s fire.
In a statement provided directly to Wharton Post on Thursday, October 8, the company confirmed that the outage affecting residents is related to equipment owned by the property, rather than CenterPoint’s electrical system.
“The outage in question impacting customers living in the Meadows Apartments in Wharton is not CenterPoint equipment but is related to a customer-owned equipment issue after a fire at the complex,” CenterPoint stated.
The company explained that the property owners are responsible for completing the necessary repairs before electrical service can be restored safely.
“We recognize the hardship outages create for residents, and we remain committed to working alongside the property owner to restore service safely and as quickly as possible,” CenterPoint said.
No Estimated Restoration Time Provided
CenterPoint did not provide a timeline for restoring electricity at the apartment complex.
It remains unclear how many apartment units are affected or when the property owners expect repairs to be completed.
The outage follows a fire reported Wednesday night, October 7, at Meadows Apartments, located at 501 W. Willow Lane in Wharton.
The company’s statement confirms that the outage involves customer-owned electrical equipment following the fire.
